Welcome to East of England Yoga School.
We Offer Comprehensive 300+ Hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses in East Anglia
With Laurence Mitchell, Brenda Louw, Ali Spalding,
and guest teachers.
Train with us because…
Besides also being known as
‘The Really Really Cool Yoga School’:
Our Multi Style Training is Personalised For You
Being a yoga teacher is not about how flexible you are, your size, your beliefs, your age, legging design or how ‘perfect’ you look in an asana.
The yoga you enjoy practicing is a personal choice, and at East of England Yoga School, we encourage you to develop your own individual and unique approach of teaching, in a ‘style’ that resonates with you.
Your focus may be meditation and mantra or Vinyasa; Chair Yoga or Restorative; perhaps bringing aspects of western movement and body work into your classes… or a combination of different styles.
Our Experienced Teachers Are Here For You
Between Brenda, Laurence and Ali, we have over 12 000 hours of teaching yoga.
At East of England Yoga School, there is a total of 283 contact hours with us and our guest tutors, which exceeds the criteria for a 300+ hour training.
Our commitment to small group sizes means that you get dedicated guidance and instruction, so you don’t become a cardboard cut-out yoga teacher. We assist and guide you on your teaching path, giving you the tools, knowledge and practice for you to develop your own style and find your own voice. You will become the confident, individual and effective professional yoga teacher that you want to be.
Your Practice Will Never be The Same
The course is a wonderful opportunity to delve into yourself: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually – a potentially life changing experience. As you open doors to new experiences, we are there for support and mentoring.
We motivate you to explore, develop, deepen and refine your personal practice, so you will teach safely from your own knowledge and experience.
We are Affiliated with Yoga Alliance UK
This means you can rest assured that our course has met high standards, and our course teachers are experienced. For more info about what being part of the Yoga Alliance means, see our Accreditation Page.
And Also…
There are no hidden costs or extras with East of England Yoga School.
Even though we offer CPD, teacher get-togethers and post-graduation support, we do not lock you in to do your further CPD trainings with us. We understand that there may be other trainings and workshops that you may want to attend on specific topics according to your interests and teaching path, so we encourage you attend these as your CPD.

Course Overview.
East of England Yoga School is a hands-on, down-to-earth 300+ hour comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training Course, bringing together the diverse experience of our tutors, to offer a ‘multi-style’ course that will allow you to experience different yoga styles and ideas, and find your niche as a confident, professional yoga teacher.
The course has been in existence since 2007, originally as ChillOut Yoga Teacher Training (CYTT) run by Brenda -first in Scotland and then in Suffolk. To date Brenda has introduced over 80 CYTeachers to the world of yoga teaching: some trained to further their own practice, most have gone on to teach amazing and diverse classes, some have opened yoga studios and run retreats. For more information on these courses, click here.
Brenda teamed up with Laurence and Ali in 2019 to become East of England Yoga School, offering a wonderfully diverse course with over 280 contact hours with us and our guest tutors. There is plenty of teaching practice, self practice, sharing of experiences and a lot of laughter – which doesn’t mean we don’t take our subjects seriously!
East of England Yoga School is registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK (YAP), which assures you are receiving high quality and professional tutoring. Both Brenda and Laurence are Senior Yoga Teachers with YAP, and Brenda is a Yoga Elder with the Independent Yoga Network. Together, the three of us have over 12 000 hours teaching yoga – so plenty of experience that we willingly share with you.
We believe it is important for all our students to feel looked after and cared for, so we accept a maximum of 10 students per course, which gives each student individual attention. Often deep friendships blossom from the trainings, some which may stay with you for many years.

A Few Testimonials.

“For me it has been a deeply spiritual journey and one I am eternally grateful for. My journey has only just begun. As a result of this course I am learning to get to know myself better, and have cultivated more self-compassion. The bond within the group has been lovely and I think we have worked well together because we are all so unique and teach so differently. I loved the combination of the 3 teachers and each teacher played a valuable part and inspired each and every one of us.”

“I started teacher training with Brenda 6 months ago and have found her knowledge and passion for yoga truly inspirational. The course is filled with highs and occasional challenges and it takes you on a journey of self discovery. I can thoroughly recommend Brenda as a teacher. She is just the right mix with her gentle kindness while taking order when necessary. You will not regret doing the course and I really feel that it has and will continue to change my life.”

“After 15 years of yoga practice, I decided that I would like to share my experience with others. I started looking for teacher training courses to which there are many. East of England Yoga School 300 hour course stood out for me with the type of training that it offered. Brenda from Chillout Yoga has put together a comprehensive course, covering every thing you need to be a confident teacher. I would certainly recommend Brenda, Laurence and Ali of East of England Yoga School if you are thinking about a teacher training course.”
